Well, it is a horse book, but it's not quite the same as my previous horse book on training tricks with the clicker... 8)
Because this will be a book with horse mandalas, called Mandala Horses!

For those who don't know what mandalas are: a mandala is an often circular drawing that you can colour in yourself. They are also known as colouring books for adults as colouring the circular patterns has a calming and meditative effect (which is also why they are used with aggressive kids and psychiatric patients).

The best known mandalas are abstract and repeat the same pattern through the entire circle - so I thought, is it possible to do the same with horses without it looking weird?
Well, you are to be the judge of that, 8) but when I had 46 drawings it dawned to me that I had another book in my hands, and in two months it will be for sale.
We even have a first contact-page-website for the people who want to get an email when the book is out: http://www.mandalapaarden.nl
(My apologies for the text being in Dutch only, the real site will be in English and German as well as the book is in English and German too, so if you want to, you can register for the email notification if you live abroad too, just leave your e-mail address!)

So now I'll just stop writing and show the mandalas instead (and I'm sorry for the bad quality pics, I just took a few shots right before they went to the publisher, the originals of course aren't on grey paper but white  ).

Thanks, guys! :)

As we just want the book to be good, we don't really have a fixed date for it to appear, but our goal is at the end of july/beginning of august. This whole year it has just been an idea, and now I can't wait to finally hold it in my hands! :green:

 Too cool! I'm a sucker for coloring books... I love practicing my shading and color technique to no end. ;) But I'm always dissapointed at the inaccurate pictures/drawings of horses, generally. Your looks just dreamy :D

Thank you all!
After spending a year of drawing on my own, just doing my thing and never minding what others might think, it's a bit scary to suddenly present them to the world and then wait and see what others think.... So it's very reassuring to get all those lovely responses!

I totally agree about horse drawings in general! Of course I shouldn't diss other horse painters as they probably fuss about my drawings too, but I'm always turned off by ears that are out of place, bridles that have the reins attached to the browband  and legs that bend the wrong way... There are a few mandala's with horses already (I guess about 10 or 20 if I google them), but they're all really meant for young kids and often the horse is just a decorative picture in a regular mandala. I didn't want to add horses to a regular mandala, but instead build mandala's out of horses. Of course that means that not all of them are perfectly circular, but well, horses aren't either! :green:
