If Beau would like to proceed with a bow, then go for it! There are no rules for the proper order, and no rules that say you must have a bow or an obeisance (back crunch).
If you look at the bottom of page four of "Training Timber and Ester" in the diaries section, you'll see how I am differentiating the crunch from the bow with Tamarack. Sometimes he will bend one leg while I'm trying to encourage a crunch, but then I just stop, stand up straight, square up his feet and try again.
If he's really insisting on bending his leg on a particular day, then we will just work on the bow. If you don't "go with the flow" to some extent, then the tendency is to get more insistent, or discouraged. Neither option is good for training, so if Beau would prefer to bow, then let him!
