Hi,

I'd like to start playing with Ramener and would really appreciate some ideas on getting started. I've searched the Groundwork topics, but haven't managed to find the details I'm looking for - apologies if I've missed it somewhere.

Firstly, can anyone describe exactly what I am looking for in Ramener, and if possible point me in the direction of some photos or videos showing good examples of it? I've googled it and encountered a bewildering array of definitions and images !

Secondly, what are the best methods to start to develop it? Targeting towards the chest? Shape a base-of-neck/wither lift? Teach it from a back-up cue, capturing weight shift before actual steps are taken? Etc.?

Thanks.

Thanks Annette :)!
I'd found the first of those, but it talks mainly about getting ramener with forward movement, and transferring it to different cues, assuming you already have it.
I hadn't found the second one - didn't occur to me to look at a Level 4 topic since we're only starting :D. Will go away and study it now :study:!

Orange, don't forget that the levels are not really "step one, two, three and four, etc"...you can mix them up based on what your horse wants to do.

Thanks for the reminder Karen :).
I guess that means I'm going to have to get my poor head round even MORE stuff :ieks: in case my horses start offering it :D!
