Post subject:  Cordeo roping?

Okay!! I have the weekend to spare.. While I'm still working on finishing building my horse's pasture anyway.. Its going well so far. Water crib is just a twee bit problem. Anyway, what I want to ask is..
When my horse is finally coming to come and stay at my place, I would like to give him a homecoming present :sun: Meaning, I want to make my own cordeo!

I've been wanting to know what rope is the safest to use? And if its white, what dye works best to stain the rope?
I really want to make it pretty!

Thanks!

I am not sure what you mean by safest? In terms of sturdyness, or material, or anything else?

I like to use hemp ropes, as they are wonderfully natural and give a good compromise between softness and stiffness that I like. Cotton is another - and cheap - choice, but for my taste it doesn't have enough life when I handle it. Both materials are flexible to work with and can be easily spliced for attaching rings or anything else.

There are a few threads about selfmade cordeos and leadropes, so you may want to check them as well:
