Well, thanks to the information here I decided to start with a jambette, as it seemed simple and versatile, leading to many other things. Ted's had two ten minute sessions. In the first session, I tickled under his dew claws to annoy him into lifting his foot - this was easy. By the end of the session, he was getting the idea that a good lift was getting him a treat, and was lifting purposefully when tickled. In the second session, he was easily lifting with a tickle, but we had a major breakthrough when I rewarded him for lifting just slightly without, he may have even just been shifting his weight, but after that he started lifting his foot definately and purposefully by himself, which I am rewarding for. My next step will be attaching the verbal command...but this is typically quick bovine progress! I'll put up a video once we have it down |

That's great I have a mental picture of someone walking past the fence with food on them and seeing this bull doing jambettes up and down the fence line hoping for a treat. That would really confuse them I look forward to seeing the video |
