Congratulations Glen, it absolutely looks like heaven on earth :D
And it is so funny to see your dog roaming around, being anywhere and everywhere ;)

Good luck!

Joli, thanks. She is a "poke your nose into everything" kind of girl ...

Wow! You do have your work cut out for you, but you seem to have an excellent plan. I was in your neck of the woods in December and just fell in love. Perhaps someday I will make it back. I should love to see you and your place then. In the mean time I will enjoy your progress in pictures. When do you expect your horses to move in? :horse2: :horse3: :horse2: :horse: :horse:

I love that all the wood will get used. Oregon is a wood place, too. So many clever people. Even in the city here. If you post that you have a tree to get rid of, people will fall all over themselves to have it. However, we are a cool cloudy wood place right now. Many Scandinavians settled here as it is heavy with wood and fish and water in this region. Summer is lovely, though.

But I want so much to see more of your country. In my youth, I never imagined that I would ever go there due to politics. To visit and see its progress was so exciting.

Your phrasing makes me ask, are you South African originally or a transplant?

Zephyr - we won't harm any tree that is supposed to be here. We are trying to "re-create" the indigenous forest that should have been here ... but sadly that means some trees that should never have placed here have got to go.

Anneliese, you were here in December? Why oh why didn't you contact me? I'm a born South African, but I am also 2nd generation Irish ...

Fantastic place. Congratulations. I have to say I am green with envy. Unfortunately we can't move to a farm as I have lots of schooling years left for my kids and I just can't spend my life in the car! I would love to be you right now, it must be so exciting.
Maybe one day when we retire...........
Now there is no excuse for lots of liberty walks and no scary monsters in the bushes behind the camp!!!!! (Oh and the best part, no more rubbish grooms!!!!!)

Yeah, I so hear that. We spent 20 years stuck in the smog and hassle of Jo'burg so our kids had access to quality education and we could both earn maximum salaries ...

And oh YES, with a bit more time - my boys in my own back yard ...

 :applause:
