My own language skills are so lacking (even English at times), that I am in constant awe of the incredible understanding of English folks from other countries here on AND demonstrate.
As for keeping, heck, we even say, "the clock is good
keeping time." This means it's accurate.
Crazy language, English. Such a confusing pile from other languages.
We almost became a German speaking country as the official language during the founding of our government and nation.
Understanding another language's idiom is always fascinating. I keep a little book on Mandarin sayings that have English equivalents. And Chinese is an idiom rich language, very. So it's quite entertaining.
