We have moved! On Saturday we finally walked our horses to our new barn, 1.5 hours (walking distance) from the old one.
Both of them felt that something is not right. Nothing happened like they were used to. And of course the days before other horses had already left and were not seen again. Especially Ally (lead mare and deep love of Mucki) and Riccalina (best friend of Lily) must have been a blow when they left. Mucki never did that before, but when Ally finally left, he knew what was happening and was running up and down the fence, crying out after her.
It's not fair that we decide so readily when and where a horse must go and leave all others behind .

When we finally walked off we had a hard time with Lily & Mucki. Both were stopping, turning back, looking, listening, pulling to the grass. It was hard on our already strained nerves to keep our countenance. Some friends walked with us, which was very nice and soon we reached the new barn. Mucki met some dwarves (see pictures) and tried to communicate, while Liy plunged her head into the hay, only shortly appearing for air :D. So far it must have felt like the land of milk and honey :).

The integration in the new "herd" (three very low ranking geldings) went as smooth as one can only dream of. Mucki and Lily had immediate access to the hayfeeder and there was only a very short period of galloping up and down the fences, which felt more like high spirtis to us than a chase. Mostly Lily seemed to be the instigator with wild bucks and kicks ;).

People seem very nice there and we already got a series of compliments on how nice our horses behave  and how well muscled they look  . That's always very good to hear.
I just wonder how much of the muscles come from our training and how much is owed to the large and steep pastures they were on all summer. Well, we'll see soon enough...

Today, my young Lipizzaner friend has reached an age of five years! Half a decade on this planet is worth a look back, don't you think?

At the tender age of two weeks or something, he was already posing for a Landrover commercial - what a start of his career! :ieks: :funny:
Image
Exactly on his third birthday, I came to visit. They showed me a strange looking, most lovable brat of a horse - I fell in love  - and took him away!

He had to endure my first clumsy horsemanship steps...

But soon to taste the sweetness of love, treats and liberty... :f:

Happy birthday, Mucki! :) He really looks like such a personality and you two are such a great team. I hope that when he will have completed his first decade (and then his second and third... ;)), you will still be here and post another review of your time together. :)

And I will add him to our AND birthday calendar. :f:

Just looked at your pictures again. (i love them), and i noticed that Nepomuk birthday in on the same date as Tequila's (13 of march) she is a bit older though (she was 9 this year). happy birthday to you two :f: (yes, it is a bit late, i know).
i love how he has such an expressive wide range of facial expressions. in some of them he looks so human. it is lovely seeing him grow up in pictures, change color.
more please

Thank you, Anat! Happy birthday to your Tequila as well :f:
Oh yes, Mucki does have very human expressions often times. Makes it so fun to communicate with him!
And to think of that when I bought him they told me that I should be wary of horses with too much white in their eyes - they are usually difficult to handle they said! What a load of bull****! I love that about him!!!
