Hello all,

I am Gem from the USA. I found out about AND from Glen Grobler.

I will be moving to live with her in May and will be learning AND with her, and working with the TB mare Emma that she is getting. I am very excited to enter in the world of AND and look forward to chronicling my experiences with all of you.

Gem

Hi all!! Thanks for the great welcome!! Everyone calls me Gem, but whatever you are comfortable with is fine

I do not have a horse of my own, but will get the use of the TB mare that glen is getting, this week :D :D we hope hehe. I live in Queens, just out side NYC and can not wait to get to the wide open spaces!

A little about me, I have been riding for 23 years, since I was 4. I have taken lessons here and there, as well as been a beginner instructor for children and adults. I have worked at all 3 riding stables that are around my neighborhood. I have never competed, never had that want. I have always wanted a bond with a horse that goes beyond just horse and rider team.

I am very excited to learn AND and a more natural way to just BE with a horse. I can not wait to start working with Emma, and build a bond with her. Glen has already given me some insight into what I will be learning and I must say, this is better then i could ever have imagined. I am truly amazed at some videos I have seen and some of the posts here that I have read have truly opened my eyes to what it really means to be one with your horse and have them trust you completely because they want to not because they are more afaid of what you might do then what they are already afraid of.

I will also get the opportunity to switch Emma from a snaffle to bitless, with Glen as my teacher and all of you here I am sure I will learn a lot more then anywhere else.

I can not wait to start my own diary, chronicling everything I am learning from Emma and Glen.

Looking forward to talking to you all more as the days pass. I leave here May 3rd and will land May 5th in SA.

Till next time,
Gem

:D

OK, everyone. Just so you know? You all need to help be teachers to Gem, because I can only teach her what you all taught me so far. :funny:

So I really hope that's a deal ...

Hi Gem

how does a girl from Queens get bitten by the horse bug?

Will you stay in SA or at one point maybe come back here and spread the words in the states that there is more to horse and human relation than the apparent one?

Hi Nina!

I have always loved horses There are 3 stables here in Queens and I worked at all 3 of them at one point or another :D :D

At this point it looks like 1-2 years, minimum, in SA. But we will see how it goes. I am so excited I would leave tomorrow if I could :D Still have some things to work out here before I go, Visa and the like.

I do not have the words to express how excited I am to learn this way of being with a horse.

Hi Gem,
I am so happy for you!

All the learning you will do and the great support you will get and a new way of working with horses. Not the traditional and conventional road so many people still apply. My horses don't do anything exciting like so many here do but they are absolute fun to be around and very safe. A farrier said to me one time I had stupid horses because they didn't even know they were not tied and could walk away. It never dawn on the man that they didn't need to be tied to allow to be worked on.

But this is so wonderful that you are interested in finding a better way of being with horses. It is worth it!
