Hi does anybody knows a good reference book for macramé?

I saw these gorgeous bit less bridles save made out of macramé.
As a teen we did a lot off stuff ourself for our horses. I know we had a crochet competition, who could crochet the fastest a cooling blanket for their horse.
:D
You could make a Cordeo with it as well.
I found supplier for leather cord , now I just need a good recommendation for a good macramé book.

I love the idea of making your own cordeo, but I'm afraid I don't know a single thing about macrame... 8)

Here is a picture which inspired me to think about it.

http://www.reitforum.de/gebisslos-dressur-187644-4.html

Scroll a little and the pictures come up.

I knew what you mean about time but since we get really cold and snowy winter I spent more time inside as I want to.

I will let you know about my progress  [/img]

wow nice! What length should it be made, or how do I measure my horse? I have spare stirrup leathers and western reins that I'd like to make into one but I am not sure on the lenght.

The length depends on your horse. Here is a photo in this topic
http://www.artofnaturaldressage.com/viewtopic.php?t=19

that shows a close up of the cordeo on my horse, Cisco. It should hang loose enough that if you let it go, it would drop away a bit from the base of the neck.

The largest I would use on Cisco started off as about 6 feet of leather strap. A bit of that length is lost when you attach the ring. I have now gone a bit shorter than that, at first for Tamarack, then for Cisco as well. I would have to measure it.

A single rein makes a great cordeo. Old stirrup leathers may be too wide.

I made one out of an old western rein and a once inch ring. I think the color looks nice on him.

It's lovely!!!!!!!!!

I have gone to a few tack sales...where people bring their used tack to sell. I go looking specifically for old single reins because I can get them inexpensively. Then I can just buy some chicago screws and some rings, and make cordeos that I can give to friends and other people I meet.

See the posts above! 8) Karen gave a good description of how to measure, and placed a photo in her link too.
