Personnaly I ride with this type of caveson. To be clear, to my opinion you should never ride with a caveson with an iron inlay or chain in the noseband. This type only has rings sowed onto the noseband (wich I never use) and it has a nice way of adjusting to the horses head to make it fit perfectly. I put padded (fake)fur around the noseband to make it extra soft.

I liked the feel of the Dr. Cook Bitless Bridle very much but Evita does not like any pressure around het head and behind her ears. This caveson is in this case a nice alternative.

Hi Bianca,

It's great to see your bridle from up close now, and I'm very glad that there's no chain in it!

When I was at Apassionata last year, there was a man selling all kinds of classical tack and I also got the chance to feel some of his cavesons. They were really nice, but I discovered that there was a chain in the noseband too as it was way too supple for just leather. But as I couldn't feel the links of the chain from the outside as the leather around is was very well padded, I thought that it might nog be felt by the horse either and that it was a good instrument. Two weeks ago when I went to see the Haute Ecole clinic, I discovered that the demonstrater used the same cavesson, but hers was now a year old, and I was quite disappointed to feel each link of the chain very clearly now - and so will the horse if you put it on his nose...

So your bridle is great. I also like the fact that it doesn't squeeze the horses head when you 'pull' at the reins like regular bitless bridles. Where did you buy it?

The Vienna Caveson is always only supple leather.
If not, it is a spanish caveson or serreta.

Of course you shall find them at Equihof ;)
But they are in one size only.
In london with silver or gold, dark brown or black.

Hmm, probably not 'One Size Fits All'? 8)

But maybe that big online store has got them in different sizes? I thought it was www.hue-hott.de , and I remember that it has a hughe amount of (bitless) bridles.

The one posted up close is not mine actually because mine differs in the sense that the siderings are between the noseband and headpiece and not like the above, attached to it. The difference with mine is that the noseband is not in one piece.
I put the photo because its the best one I could find at the time but I have found mine (I love Google)

This is mine

Bianca - where do you get these? I only use a halter (don't have any other bitless) and I imagine that my horse don't like the ear-pressure as well....

But I have absolutely no experience with cavessons - don't know the difference at all....

Many cavessons have iron on or in the noseband wich makes them heavy and sometimes even painful. The Vienna caveson is all leather and does only have some rings sown onto them wich even can be taken off if wanted, but wich are not bothering the horse.
Josepha sells them in her shop, maybe she can ship one? I bought mine in Germany because I didn't know Josepha sold them back then.

Oh - I found the internett-shop! So much nice things!! And I'm in lack of money for the moment  ...

But I didn't find any cavessons?

And just a question on the side - the heather moffet saddle (saw she had that in the store) is that much better than the barefoot london? (which she also had in the store)...

Hi kirsti,

I have not had time to put the cavesson in the internet shop, sorry!
you can send me an e-mail for more info :)

Weather the barefoot or the Fhoenix is better depends entirely on the horse and rider.
There is not one solution for everyone.

Regards,

Josepha

Thank you so much (I don't have the money for a saddle now anyway, so I can find that out later).

I will e-mail you - where is your store anyway, I have a sister driving some horses in Europe this week...

Hi,

I am new here and am very interested in the philosophy.

I was wondering where I could learn more, also where I could buy the lovely leather BB?

Thanks in advance. :)

First have a read through this (or maybe you already have?):

http://www.artofnaturaldressage.com/viewtopic.php?t=2

Then you can begin reading through the groundwork section. There are many things to learn there!

And if you feel up to it, go to the introduction section and tell us about yourself? And welcome to the forum!
