I came across this today which I thought might interest some of you (especially Donald as It seems to be true of Altea!)
I have to say that looking back through my experiences all of the foals born to rescues that have had it tough have been fillies......and those born in ideal settled food rich environments have been colts and to be honest I had never thought about it before.
mmmm......natural selection of the fittest?

Fascinating. We know that nutrition plays a role in some animals reproductive patterns, such as twinning in deer, and lower birthrates in times of scarcity in wild settings.

But gender selectivity? Yes, curious idea. But certainly feasible.

Donald, Altea, and Bonnie Cupcake, who at this moment is dancing around the big winter hay pile I supply each day.
