Post subject:  A Study Of Movement DVD
Sorry if this is already on here, I'm no good at searching, if it is can someone direct me there.

I was wondering if anyone here has seen this DVD by Bent Branderup, and if so, is it very good. Would it be worth getting for my Equine Biomechanics course,? I'm trying to get as much info on the subject as I can........it's a very complicated subject, and being a visual learner, I do so well seeing films as well as just reading, can anyone recomend any other films that would be worth me getting.Thankyou.

I was very impressed with the clips from the DVD on Youtube - if you do get it, I'd love to hear your assessment of it, and I may have to put it on my shopping list :smile:. Do you have the DVD "The Visible Horse" by Susan Harris? That might be of interest.
Where are you studying Equine Biomechanics?

Thanks Orangehoof, thats realy kind. I'm definatly going to look up the 'Visible Horse' sounds interesting. I also do have 'If Horse could Speak' by Heuschmann, and that is brilliant, it uses computer imagery to show the muscles working inside, absolutely wonderful, I have the book to that DVD too, which is as excellent as the film.

Well, I'm retraining myself, not sure what for yet, but who knows where it might lead........I still think horses are still relatively new to me, but I have always worked with animals, and I so love anatomy, and inner workings, and this whole subject of equestrian art is fasinating, as I see it, it's one thing asking horses to perform various moves etc, but I think it realy helps to have an understanding of whats happening inside, and how musclegroups work through the various moves, and also to see what is beneficial to the horse, and what could be detrimental to it to. I'm also rideing a bit more now, so I also think a knowledge of whats happening inside is also helpful, it helps to see the horse differently, and consider things more.

I'm studying most of the course at home, but I also have to go in to the college for some live in sessions too, can't wait. It's at the 'Open College Of Equine Studies' in Suffolk.

Hi Annie,

I too have the Heuschmann book and DVD - I've read the book several times (such a lot to take in) and I agree, the computer-generated images on the DVD are amazing. I love anatomy too - got quite a few books, but would love to study it more seriously. I'll take a look at the Open College of Equine Studies, sounds very interesting.

If you'd like to borrow the "Visible Horse" DVD I'd be more than happy to lend it to you - just let me know.

Oh, I know what you mean, I have read that book over and over, then refered back to it, the whole subject is alot to take in :ieks: :ieks: When I first got my study work through, I gasped, but it grips you, and then you go outside and watch your horses move, and you go, 'Oh, so thats that bit moveing, etc, etc'

If you want a realy good book, that realy helps with learning the whole anatomy of the horse, from skeleton to muscles, to tendons, ligaments and nerves and blood vessels, the book my course recommended we get is,'The Horse Anatomy Workbook' It's by Maggie Raynor, it's brill, each page covers a different part of the horse, and it has huge diagrams that you have to colour in and label, it so helps with learning, I got it realy reasonable on Amazon.

Thank you Annie for the book recommendation, I've had a look at it on Amazon and it looks great. It says it's a good companion to the Peter Goody anatomy book, which I have, so it looks like I will have to buy it :ieks: :)

And thank you for the link to the Open College too. I'll take a look at their courses later. So much to learn :study: :study:..........
