I participate with Romeo at a clinic with Manolo Oliva

http://www.manolo-oliva.de/dt_manolo.htm

from 23.-24.11. in Bonn, Germany

I'm curious about it! Becourse I want to learn to ride with Garrocha - but bitless - in the next years

maybe someone has seen him at the Apassionata 2005-2008

;) thank you Karen .. so I´ll do my best ...

the weekend was beautiful! Manolo is very charmand and a really good trainer. He gives you the feel that you are the primary person at this lesson - it doesn't matter whether if you are beginner (like my and Romeo)or professional ride (who learn piaff or passage)
Image
but Romeo ... at home he is so slowly it´s straining to ride him, you must always push him to go forward! And there.. :ieks: he shake his head, squeaks and bucks :^)

At first Manolo wanted to see our walk, trot and galopp ... and what do Mr. Horse? Walk very good, trot fast and galopp? No galopp = squeaks and bucks - trot again and a new start for galopp ... squeaks and bucks

DEVEL

so Manolo give us a lot of tips - take the rains wide apart, so Romeo comes a little bit down with his head, my stirrups 3 hole longer! then we do it again .. trot .. Manolo always says : send him forwards, more ... sit and galopp ... and Mr Horse do ->squeaks and bucks ... Manolo: again, trot fast, forwards more .. forwards .. sit and galopp ... tattaaaaa it works - Romeo without bucks and squeaks :green:

the next time we do only work at the ground - becourse Manolo has seen at the first 5 Minutes that Romeo has no respect - so we do same works for that.

at Lunch I told Manolo that my big problem is - in my head Romeo is my Baby and not a 5 years old stallion - so I´m to inconsequent :^) !!! And he says: yes that will be your big problem the next two years! If you not change your minde you have in 2 years a horse that you can´t ride anymore!!
He is correct in saying that!

on monday I ride again and it was more better then sunday ... we do a lot exercise .. and learn that I must change my minde

In Ferbuary is the next clinic - and I hope I can participate again

Sounds really interesting :)

Did you change saddles after my clinic? And did you shorten your stirrups again? (I remember asking you to lengthen them as well :) ).

What I did see was a horse who could not go forward because his saddle was to long and pressing down on his withers and a rider, who tried to push her horse so much forward all the time, that his movement was blocked by the ribs (imagine trying to walk forward while someone is holding your ribs with his hands really tight).
Remember how he started walking when you stopped using your legs all the time?

Now I imagine the squeeling and the bucking came from you sqeezing the life out of Romeo  :alien: I could be mistaken of course :)
But after both of you just fell in the forward movement finally (Thanx to Manolo), you let go and Romeo could just go :)

Very interesting. I would never have done it as such, fearing the loss of balance (I always work on balance first and movement later, afraid that the horse might learn to go forward in the forehand only), but seeing as this fixt you two I'll keep it in mind for sure :)

And speeking of the garrocha, did you see that Cloris gave a garrocha clinic at Equihof and Owen and I participated bridle-less? 8)
Cloris will come back next year, so maybe something for you and Romeo then :) :) :)

Strangely enough, Romeo seemed every so polite, gentle and sensitive to me, here at Equihof, as well as at the clinic in Krefeld. Has it changed since then, or did I just get the wrong impression?

Glad that you are back here! :friends:

no I don´t change the saddle for the cilinc it was the same as your clinic - a friend borrowed my sattle so the stirrups are to short for me ;)
but now I have a portuguesa saddle for Romeo, for the clinic I take the VS saddle becourse it is little bit difficult to trot (leicht traben?) whit the portuguesa  but I learn ;)

And yes of course I´m interested about a Garrocha Clinic 8)
I test it at home but with bridle (and you see the stirrups are to short at the portuguesa - I have change it :thumright: )
and it is not a real garrocha it´s only a lang 3m Stick :green:

ah okay, now I understand :)
Well, as you know, my problem is I like horsey devils :green:

Wow, these pictures look amazing and he looks soooo good with the portugesa!
Yeah, rising trot is almost not possible with a portugesa, but on the other hand, not done of course :)

Romeo really looks like rejoneador now!

There are pictures here on the forum... can't find them right now.
Or else view them her (after the SA clinics)
equihof.hyves.nl

Looking forward to meeting both of you again this summer then!

Josepha

PS: pay my respects to the king, please
