I think that part of our derrière which accumulates fat is not the area where the ishium contacts a surface when sitting.
Our buttocks don't cover the ishium very well, if at all.
I've suggested that folks that wish to be more informed on this try turning the hands palm up and sit on the ishium and see how very small an area each is, and how sharp both are. Try to imagine that digging into your back each side of your spine.
You might want to try this in private.
