Not really 'tack' --- I was wondering what would be a good height for a mounting block for a 15.5 hand horse. For mounting without stirrups.
Making one for myself for Christmas  :applause:

Our Friendship Training exercises are going very well. Isabelle respects me in anew way - she cares about what I do and say. She is so gentle and attentive. Not that she wasn't a good girl before but this new deeper relationship just doesn't compare! I have had this mare for 7 years (since she was 1 1/2) but I have never experienced the level of back and forth communication with any horse as we have together now. Sigh.

So I am planning to add mounted activity in the new year. And need a way to mount!

Anne Louise

15.5 hands minus the length of your legs from hips down.

I have discovered I have this same problem :funny: Diego is 15.3 and since I have a new bareback pad that I can't "slide" onto (it's sticky), I can't do my strange jump/slide/wiggle thing to get on and position myself. I need to be able to just swing a leg over and "sit down". Today I added a 6 inch wooden block to our 18" mounting block and it worked ok. 20 that's about 2 feet tall I guess?

But it also depends on human height. I'm 5' 6"....
