Beautiful photos Barbara. So you had more fun, the people or the horses?

Brutus(the darkest horse) goes really wild in the water, he starts trowing it around and jumps around in it making everything and everyone wet.
Beau just walks around in it, blowing bubbles and investigating everything.
And Pascha(the spotted horse) went in very slowly, with small steps, just slowly getting his feet wet and smelling things and did not really want to get wet. Or dirty, he was the only one not rolling.Maybe because he was white the first time in his life, he did not want to get dirty! :)

And we of course had a lot of fun!!

yesterday I rode Beau with a barebackpad, I feel much more at ease in one of these, or even without anything than with a saddle, and you can tell. I trotted, did some transitions and even cantered and it looked something like this...

It felt so great...

Very nice! What brand is it? Parelli, or Emiel Voest? It just looks very familiar.

I always ride with long leather (rough suede) chaps, and they also add a lot more security on a bareback horse. It just stops you from slipping all over his back, and when you can find a barebackpad that does the same for you, I would use it for sure. I can only be nicer for Beau when his rider has a more stable seat.

I rode on a lusitano mare a couple of times in a barebackpad that was made out of a sheepskin, and that was just pure heaven to ride on. I think that one came from Emiel Voest too.

I made my own barebackpad a while ago, before I bought a proper one. Like you say Miriam, the rough leather side down on the horses back gives wonderful grip, whilst the wool side up gives wonderful bumcomfort :D :D :D
I may just dig it out again, it certainly doesnt look as good as the one I bought, but it was definatly more warm and comfy, quite important as I get older!!!

Lovely picture Barbara :D
