The grazing muzzles for Daniel and Ben arrived at lunchtime. I had presents to take to my boys this afternoon. This morning, after a quiet evening in with their feet up they were happy to go and help the sheep and geese with grazing duties.

Both my lads were accepting of trying on the new buckets with oats inside!

Daniel and Ben comparing notes and calling each other names.

Whilst the boys went back into the barn, the sheep were thinking of heading uphill to the top pasture and the geese heading for their island in the pond.

Ben is ready to venturefrom his bedroom.

followed by Daniel and Arthur.

Daniel and Ben wander but are not ecstatic.
Image

I was followed a lot, Dan knows I have opposeable thumbs, I stroked his head, rubbed his tummy and pretended ignorance at his plaintive removal requests. Ben is far more independent.
Image

Ben does not want a fuss, I am not to be trusted.

After some searching on the internet I found out how to fix the flickr links. I will post it in the How to post a picture topic, because this problem has occured several times over the last years.

Susie, they are so gorgeous and I think it's absolutely great that now they can stay outside together instead of having to be confined for hours. I so hope that the muzzle experiment works out for all of you! :)

Oh, and I want Ben. ;)

I gave up because I had spent so much time uploading to PC, then to flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/piepony/ , then to here!
Thank you Romy. I know you like Ben. Ben is so much more the type I am used to than the wide hairy coldbloods.

Dan followed me around, I had to feign ignorance of his patently obvious requests, he begged for help.
Image

Arthur has empathy, but he put his head down while Dan and Ben sought food to fit their muzzles.
Image

Arthur enjoyed the evening sunshine.
Image

Daniel became quite frustrated, but I did not cave in.
Image

Simon was unable to help Ben.
Image

Arthur offered some comfort to Daniel.
Image

Arthur returned to the serious business of grazing leaving Dan and Ben to plot together.

Horses are tool users.

They may not have opposable thumbs but they have clever brains.
Pleasure from food or sensation is a huge motivator.

The muzzles compromised the horses social skills. Ben tried to engage in mutual grooming with Arthur, but it was grossly unsatisfactory.

So Arthur decided to get a tummy scratch instead.

Arthur is adept at this.
Image

He is reaching the spot.

Image

Dan is adept at foot and feather grooms, on sheep netting, branches, anything he can employ.

Image
08092010-30 by susie_piepony, on Flickr

meanwhile Arthur seeks ecstasy..
Image
08092010-31 by susie_piepony, on Flickr

Arthur can scratch his own tummy, but he prefers to have a human slave with a good strong comb.
Image
08092010-32 by susie_piepony, on Flickr

Stretching low and rolling the barrel adds to the pleasure.

Image
08092010-33 by susie_piepony, on Flickr

Arthur is quite happy

and they are less embarrassing to humans than having colts and stallions.

Daniel likes to stroke his legs from hip to hoof, remove moult, (he is lice and mite free).
Image
08092010-35 by susie_piepony, on Flickr

Dan moves a branch a little higher. He chooses Y shaped twigs for maximum effect front and back of hocks and feathers at the same time.
Image

and lower down the leg
Image

Daniel often stands on 3 legs giving a hind to me to scratch for him. But I can't manage to take photo's of myself.

Daniel managing to scratch front and back of his leg with his Y twig.

Dan looks a little sad.
Scratching is a good diversion to grazing. Dan finds Y shaped twigs are good for front and back of legs simultaneously.
Sheep netting is better, but some human has removed most of it and he never got stuck, just destroyed it for purpose.

Horses are very clever.

Poor Ben, sheep and geese close graze, he varies his diet with herbs, bushes and browse from a variety of trees. The leaves will not go in the muzzle.

Image
08092010-40 by susie_piepony, on Flickr

Ben still has not found a way to gather his leaves.
Image
08092010-41 by susie_piepony, on Flickr

Oh no, Ben cannot manage bark on the fallen tree.
Image
08092010-42 by susie_piepony, on Flickr

But I hardened my heart and left them to work out what was manageable.

At 8 o'clock this morning I found out that Ben was hungry and Dan had been in the barn for velco tools.

A little chaff with supplements, muzzles back on and I will see if muzzles are likely to be a Daniel solution. xx

I have fixed the links in your second post too, but now have to get some work done and fixing the links takes ages. Maybe you can try it yourself for the other pictures? An explanation is in the 'How to post a picture' sticky I linked to before.

Oh thank you, I thought it had taken a while to upload. I tried the full url and the quick link address.
I might try again after work tonight. Must have my bath now. xx

 I can see the 1st 2 sets now.

OMG, they are too funny. Daniel just oozes personality, doesn't he? "Come. lowly human with the opposable thumbs, and unbuckle this thing while you admire my gorgeous self!" Bwaaaa-haaaa-haa.

Oh, I really hope this works because it's SO much better than locking them in a stall ...

I will try to correct the rest but honest they are on my flickr page, just a click on my signature.

I bet Daniel is stuffing his face and will have his muzzle off again by now, oh well he is being given the chance to stay out but prison is looking more likely. xx
