Post subject:  new ideas on AND exercises

I met a lady the other day, she was trying to get in contact with Billy on the other side of the fence.
We got talking and she sent me some info about the animal communication she is busy with.

From there I got to another site of a Frenchman who seems to be very good in AND

http://jfpignon.com/site/pages/acces.php

Click on the pictures to get some fresh looks at some AND exercises :funny:

Wouldn't it be nice to have him on our forum??? ;)

He was on horse event this year, I only went for him (and I got a free ticket anyway :) ), his mares are so gentle and waiting for him to work with them. Not impatiently waiting, but very eager to work nontheless.
what I loved especially in his show was that there were some minor mistakes (mistakettes so to say, like kitchenette) but he solved them so gently and the horses reacted so friendly, not like they were doing something wrong at all but like "oh yeah you meant it like this, well that's okay go on :D " Lot of inspired people around me, he told about a new book form his brother Frederique (I believe) pignon, gallop to freedom (believe available in Canada already!) I'm quite interested in that one!

I always thought it was AND like, but I wonder after reading an interview, where he said animals only excist to serve humans and humans need to be in control 100% at all time for their safety.

He based that view on a goat which attacked him as a child after he had pestered it for a long period of time.

Since that interview I am not that interested anymore.

His brother seems more interesting though, I like the way he described working with his stallions :)

Weel I was questioning myself that, I liked the way he 'made u for mistakes' for me it didn't feel like punishing at all, het just gently pt them back where they should be for the next thing. But... how gentle was his method while teaching?
I once saw an interview with frédéric Pignon (figured out the way to write it :P )and he said some really good things in my opinion, never was able to find it back somewhere... In my mind he even said that sometimes the horses don't listen while in a show... then he has to make it interesting... but this could also have been my mind playing

No, it's not, I remember him saying the same thing, that the horse sometimes had their own ideas and how he went with that.
Completely the opposite of Jean-Francois.

Lucky me, I thought my head was playing with me :funny:

I know the part were he (from my opinion) spoke about it, he was sitting on some sort of a bench and his horse was walking around him nonchalantly. At one moment he came up for some attention and all went so gently... believe this was one of the eyeopening moments for me :) It was right when I decided to separate from horses in total because it was all so horrible. Lucky me I saw this and went on :D

well... this doesn't mean the things JF Pignon does can't be used in an ANDway of training right? We could get our exercises everywere from everyone, just use it in our way as long as we like them? That someone doesn't share you opinion doesn't mean you can't learn anything from them right? Maybe just about how you don't want to do it and why it is good what you do now, but learning anyway?

of course :)
Just because I am not interested in J-F doesn't mean you don't have to be :)

Bent Branderup for instance is hardly AND :funny: , but I find many things of him useful and inspireing.

I just explained how to my opinion by what J-F said it wasn't probably very AND like what he does, not that it can not be usefull :) It very well could be!
It's just that I personally prefere his brother. But what I think is hardly relevent to what you should do :funny:

I noticed, but it came out somewhat harsh to me.. it's more my personal development towards "open mind" and also keep on watching the ones I'm not interested in though keeping my values why I'm not interested in them. So I had to write it down for myself (since writing seems to help 'making things come true') !

I get you, I think his brother is more inspiring, but inspiration is everywhere (as my teachers like to say when someone says "I didn't have any inspiration" "How is that possible? inspiration is everywhere" ). just wanted to have that said :D

you're right. I was inspired by J-F, looking in to what he did made me decided I wasn't interested anymore to look further. We have limited time so we have to choose who we study and whom we don't, that's all. :) And it's personal for everyone.

If I sounded harsch I am sorry, I did not mean it  . Reading it over I still not see the harshness to be honest. Just sharing some simple facts of my experiences, I thought.

But maybe it is me for not being in my right mind because of Jamie's cancer getting worse.

For me, JF Pignon is a great inspiration, I saw him on a show several years ago and I had more then one tear in my eyes - his demonstration touched me deeply. The main reason: Everything seemed very playfull, the horses really had fun doing things with him, the whole athmosphere was very different from the usual showacts.

I have his book and his video and have to say: He is not really "AND-minded" as he uses dominance. But I think he is very talented to communicate with horses so that he needs very little pressure and the horses like to work with him. And he does a lot of unusual tricks and exercises that inspire me to copy - even if I look for another way to teach them.

Would anyone be interested in selling or loaning me their JF Pignon book or dvd? I can't seem to get a copy. He never responds to website inquiries. If you have materials to share, please email me kalivanagas@gmail.com!
Thanks,
Kali
