I cant figure out how to post pictures into a topic. I hoped it would be as easy as copying and pasting, but that doesnt seem to work. I just dont have a clue how to do this. Help!

You first need to upload your picture to the internet so that it gets an internet address (for example http://www.addressofyourpicture/X.jpg). You can do this by uploading the images to your own website, or to a photo-host like for example photobucket or other sites.

Then you press the 'post a new reply' or 'new topic' button, write your text and decide where you want that picture in your text. Now press the Img button. You then see [ img ] (without the white spaces between the backets and the word). Place the address of your picture behind it and press the Img* button, and it closes off with [ /img ].

The entire line for that picture then will become:
[ img ]http://www.addressofyourpicture/X.jpg[ /img ]
(without the white spaces between the brackets and the img's!)

Repeat the same for every other picture you want to embed in your post, and your pictures will become visible when you submit the post!

Posting pictures from flickr

As this has been causing trouble to many people in the past, here is an extra explanation.

If you post the URL that you see in the URL box on top of the page (URL of the HTML page) which looks like this

http://www.flickr.com/photos/piepony/49 ... otostream/

your picture will only be visible as an 'Image' box like this, when you put it in between the [img]

Image

What you need instead is the URL of the picture, not of the HTML page. To find it out, click on the image with the right mouse key. Then you will have an option to choose a size. Do that and on the image you see afterwards, click the right mouse key again. Go to ‘Properties’ and copy the URL. It will look like this

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4074/497 ... 878032.jpg

and if you put it between the [img] things, it will be embedded in your post:

The way to post a pic makes this pretty clear, but do you also have an idea how to resize a pic to add to my profile, since it is supposed to be untill 70 pixels height and width. When I do that, you can just see about it's a person and a horse, but when I have to lower it because of the 6 kb, even that is not clear anymore...
Sorry, can anyone help me out?

As in the last time there was some confusion about posting pictures and which link to use (Image code instead of the URL of the photobucket site), here is a picture of how to do it:

Image

In this case you won´t have to use the forum´s [img]-buttons anymore, because they are already included in the link. If you prefer the forum´s [img]-buttons, you can instead copy the "direct link" two lines above the one marked red and paste it between them.

Flickr no longer gives me the size option unless for personal use, it's share button now works from the main page and offers quick url link.
I finished uploading to AND because first few photos now show on the page.
Is this because you clicked some more buttons Romy?
Otherwise seems to be taking ages to load, pictures do not show in preview.
But they are on my flickr link in my signature.
I might Facebook them as I can short cut and not have to upload to a host.
Thank you for your help. xx

Yes, I copied every single link, went to the flickr page and then did what I described in the green part of the first post of this topic. Basically all you have to do is get to the image URL instead of the HTML page URL - and this works quite easily with the right mouse click procedure that I described. But it takes quite a while and at the moment I don't have the time to do it for all your pictures.

I found it, I now have to select the BBC code NOT the HTML or URL.

Hi there,

I seem to be having trouble trying to post a picture. I read the instructions and it still didn't work. Do you HAVE to get them from a website? I don't have photobucket, etc... Just got the pics in my files on my computer.

Anyone know an easy way to post a few pics?

Thankyou, Grace ;)

Can you specify what you tried and what did not work? Have you uploaded the picture to your website or an image hosting site? If you have done so, you can post the link to the picture here and I can tell you how to integrate it in your posts.
Unfortunately you have to host the pictures by yourself, that means uploading the pictures somewhere (photobucket, flickr, picasa, facebook, ...) and then link it here.
I see you have your own website, can you upload pictures there?

hi guys,
I followed the instructions here and got an account with Photobucket. It worked great the first few times, just copying the address of the picture, but my last post, it didn't . I had to go back there, right click on the picture, select view image info, and get the link from there. Help? I don't mind switching sites either... just need an easier way to do this ... please...
Thanks
Zu

Zuzana, when you are viewing a picture in Photobucket, there's on the right hand side a box labelled: 'Links to share this photo'. From there, select 'Direct' and you can easily copy the direct link to the image.
That's actually easier than most other image hosting services I know...
