Hello everyone, I'm Anna, I'm 21 and I'm from Poland. I study psychology in my home city Wroclaw. I have a dog, 2 cats and horse of course - she is 10 yeras old dark bay thoroughbred, I own her for 7 years. She is very nice horse, quiet with other horses and animals, gentle to people but sometimes if she is scared she panics badly and she can be dangerous. But in last 2 years there was not such situations
I have been riding for about 10 years, I used to compete and use force to make horses do what I want. I had problems with my horse as when you try to force her to do something she shows her 'thoroughbred temperament'.
In last 2-3 years my approach changed a lot, I tried some natural horsemanship, I was interested in schools like Nevzorov Haute Ecole but currently I use clicker training and generaly positive reinforcement only. I use psychology knowledge in training. I also spend a lot of time on doing nothing with my horse - I lie on the grass on her pasture or I give her a massage(well, I try to do it, but its more just stroking
), or we go for a walk on cordeo to the forest etc.
I ride hardly ever as now Im concetrate on ground work and playing with my horse and I enjoy walking with her in hand even for long distance
But If im riding its always bitless, without spurs etc, and sometimes also bridless.
I also do natural hoof trimming for more than one year now(P. Ramye's method). I feed my horse as much natural as I can(hay, grass and some Alfalfa at winter) and she spend all day outside.
I hope I will find some interesting informations here about training and how to make great relation with a horse. I found this forum when I was looking for training without using pressure and force.
