Hi, My name is Ritambhara and I was delighted to find this forum. I have been a mmember of the NHE forum for several months and have found it so inspiring . Really a whole new world of possibilities have opened up for me and my horses. When I came across this forum I felt a real sense of relief that the information was more freely given and our mistakes more quickly forgiven. I must admit, I always felt a little nervous every time I did a post there for fear of reprisal. I'm still a member of that forum and will enjoy learning from there as well as here, But this group already feels more accepting. Thank you.

I have two horses, Chinook who's 25 years old , I've owned for all of those 25 years. He's a great big appaloosa and has filled in for me alot in all those years. He was my first horse and I got him when I was in my 30's, and I loved horses all my life, so you can inagine the love I poured into him. But now I can really see all the mistakes I've made with him. He never really collected. I thought I was doing him a favor riding him alwasys on a loose rein and What I was really doing was weakening his back.

My second horse is a 2 year old icelandic named Sonny. I got him as a yearling out of a field of icelandicsand he had never even had a halter on when I got him. So he is a pretty clean slate. Luckily I foound NHE soon after I got him so he will never know iron. He is naturally more balanced to begin with and I am excited about teaching him natural balance.

I wonder what sort of excercises of all the ones I've read about here and in NHE that I can begin to do with him at his yound age. We play freely and he loves following me around. He also loves getting him front legs up on the pedestal. He feels reallybig and proud up there.

Here are a few pictures, some of you may have seen them on NHE but I'll post them here for everyone else.

Thank you for starting this forum.

Welcome here, and what a great horses you have! I just added two [/img] tags to your first post so that we could see the first two pictures too, as it would be a shame to not see them. Thanks for posting them!

I love the rearing picture most of all. Do your horses play like this a lot, or was this an exeption?

Hi Miriam, thanks for the compliment on my horses altho it isn't to my credit. They are amazing beings all unto themselves. I sent the photos again so I think they are all showing now, I had to figure it out again, but thanks for looking out for me.

I was wondering where to go on this forum to post an avatar?

Where you imported the avatar pic from you need to go back and change the size there to avatar size and it will be the correct size.

hi welkom here...
nice horses you have !!
i have an icelandichorse too, when you can learn your icyhorse some NHE things you have to work very hard *smile* because most of them are not that fast in giving a reaction to you such as a arabian horse should do. I mean not that fast and quickly
They are more independent and think somthimes i will survive without you, i do not need you at all. So forget it, i will not do it untill you ask it very friendly and i am in the mood :-)))

I have my horse now for two years and he is 9 years old now, he have had a nice life for 7 years, free in the fields...and now i am training him.
He did not know anything at all, only a trailer when he had to move to an other field for new grass.

I training him bitless, it is going very well.
today i have used him for the first time of a leading horse. I had taken my shetty with us for a ride in to the woods. The shetty was walking next to us on a lead rope. It was going very well so i have made some small peaces of trot also, at first i had in mind only walk, so i have my horses under control.
But they listen very good and i try to go faster and yes they did it SUPER...i am very proud of my horse(s) it would be continued in the future.

it is nice to hear from you what kind of things you do with the youngster. Good luck...

Bianca, Thanks for letting me know about the spam thing. I just changed the spelling of my name and reregistered as Ritambhara, which is the correct spelling, so if you want to take Ritambra off the members list, that would be fine.

I've enjoyed your posts on NHE and amm looking forward to reading more here. Thanks again,

Ritzy
