Hello
My name is Mitzi & I am very excited to have found this forum :)
I am for everything natural when it comes to horses..dressage included !
I own a wonderful Friesian gelding, Dikales (aka Big D) who is my dream come true horse! He is the most patient & forgiving teacher to me ;)
We interact and play a lot on the ground together...kind of like 2 kids goofing around just having fun. Sometimes I'll pick up a foot then he will..then I'll pick up another foot and he will do the same and before I know it he will be offering Spanish Walk or I'll go over to the pedestal and stand on it and he'll come over and say"me too , I wanna get on it !!" He can be such a ham ..and he knows it :funny: A lot of times we'll just hang out and do nothing but groom each other ..you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours ;)
I have done Parelli NH w/ my boy ,which was good for some things ..but now I'm finding it a tad too restrictive in a lot of ways and want to expand and broaden my horizens and relationship w/ my horse.
When he is ridden it has been mainly in a rope hackamore...we don't do bits, have tried , but it ended up being a fight ...so why go there I told myself ???
I have always felt that having a bit in a horse's mouth does not mean you have a higher communication via the bit. All I know that he is very light and a pleasure to ride all 1500lbs. of him!
Knowing that riding in a rope hackamore can be harsh as well... I am very interested in in the cordeo and haven't as of yet given that a try....for those of you who have which ones do you like or what could I use to make one ....I saw a nice one made out of a blue inter tube here ;)
I also make jewelry (bracelets, earrings and such) from horsehair , you can see some of my work on this website, I'm under BraidedTales :

well that's about all for now..looking forward to spending time on the forum and getting to know you all.

Hi Mitzi and welcome!

A Frisian...ohhhhh....

And how totally cool -- you're the second person to talk about a blue inner tube home made cordeo this week! (Alex, from Italy shared pictures of his here: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2269)

I love synchronicity -- and how creative people are!

Looking forward to hearing more about you and your Big D...

Best,
Leigh

Thank you all for the warm welcomes! :)
I've been really enjoying reading through the different threads on the forum, especially on the different ground work exercises. I have been doing a lot of that w/ Dikales at liberty lately & his lateral movements are getting very soft 8) Hopefully at some point I can figure out how to get some videos up.
