Hi all,

Yes I am a newbie lol so thought I best introduce myself :thumleft:

My name is Sam, allthough everyone calls me Sams for some reason lol. I am based in Herefordshire (UK) and currently work full time as a Home Carer. I have recently set up my own business "Open Mind Equine Training" which specialises in training horses of all shapes and sizes. I focus mainly on the rehabilitation of horses which have problems pasts. I work with a local charity (Equine Market Watch) where I rehab horses for them, ready to then be rehomed. I am also a qualified Riding Instructor. So basically I am always busy either care work, my own horses, running my yard, rehab work, charity work and the odd bit of freelance teaching on top.

My first horse and my main comp horse is Kiwi. He is a 16yr old NZ Standardbred Gelding, 15.1hh, whom I rescued 7yrs ago. Basically he was deemed too old to race (ex pacer) and abandoned in a field. I totally retrained him and we now do a bit of everything, Hunting, XC, Dressage, Hunter trials but our forte is SJ. We are starting to slow down a bit as Kiwi will be 17yrs in February so his jumping is now limited up to 3' maximum.

I also own Dylan. He is my registered welsh section A gelding who is now rising 3yrs. He is standing at just under 12hh and is the more stocky traditional type of section a. He is extremely mature for his age, both mentally and physically. He has done some in hand showing under the WPCS and I will be lightly starting with him in the new year. I plan for him to be a ride and drive pony, as well as continuing with the in hand showing.

Currently I also have Chunky who is a 13.2hh Palomino traditional cob gelding. He belongs to EMW but came to me to be prep for rehoming. We currently have a lady interested in Chunkz so I am keeping my fingers tightly crossed for him. He is a companion horse only. He has some problems which means he cannot be ridden.

Next I have Lady who is my registered Welsh Section D filly. She is currently standing at 13hh and is only 7months old. I brought her from sales 2weeks ago as a toally unhandled wild thing lol. She is now halter trained, leading lovely, perfect to catch and just loves people.

and finally I also have Sparky, brought with Lady he is a Welsh x Arab chestnut colt, again standing at 13hh.

Both Sparky and Lady will be brought on slowly, backed when they are old enough and then sold on.

Oh and I can't forget my dog, Taboo. He is a 3yr old Golden Labrador who I have had since he was 7weeks old bless him. He is my little yard assistant lol

So that's me, I do jabber on a bit lol so apologies for that. Look forward to getting to know everyone soon

 :green:  :thumleft:

Hello Sams,

Welcome  (from another one who's on NR from time to time).
What a lovely group of horses you have - and so lucky to be able to get youngsters and bring them on yourself.

Looking forward to hearing more about you and your gang!
