Thanks! She is pretty, isn't she. I named her Sophie because she is so feminine-looking.

What you don't see in this photo is that she has a 'hunter's bump', and a crooked one at that. She was bred to race and came from the Darley racing ranch in Florida originally, though she never did a race according to her papers. However, I have to believe that the uneven hunter's bump could possibly be from a starting gate accident, because surely she was at least trained to race and must have been in one at some point. (I've never galloped her so I don't know how fast she is). Something happened... though my vet said some horses are born with this problem (I don't remember the technical term for it). I'll post a pic of that, but can someone advise what size I should make the photos before posting, so they don't come out so big?

Beautiful! Very "fine" and dainty - if such a big creature can be thought of as dainty.

800 pixels wide just about fills two third of the screen at the usual resolutions. Some will get a bigger pic, and other's a smaller one.

I find that if I stick to about 500-600 wide presuming a landscape layout (wider than tall) then the 300-400 pixal high is all on the screen.

That way folks aren't having to use the scroll bars to see all of the picture.

Your mileage may differ. But give it a try.

Ok, let's see if I've managed to get this photo small enough not to take up the whole screen :-)

This is my paint horse, Indie.

Just the right size for my monitor. I can see all kinds of detail, but it loaded fairly quickly for my dial up connection at any rate, and I can look at it on one screen without scrolling. Who could ask for more? Oh yes, the mare Indie is handsome and cute too.

What's she got in her mouth?

Indie reminds me of a butterscotch vanilla ice cream sunday.

Yum.

Oh Donald, I LOVE LOVE LOVE your description of Indie(!!!!)... butterscotch vanilla ice-scream sundae! To answer your question, my camera just happened to catch her licking her mouth... I suppose she could have picked up something from the ground, a few morsels of grain or something... :)

I want start writing in the daily training section shortly. Is that the place to use as sort of a diary for oneself?

Just a quick note - I've been gone from these boards for awhile and I may not post very much the next few months. I found that I spent WAY, way too much time online (not just here, but on political forum as well), and with my son in his first year of high school and lots of homework, my two horses, and life in general, I need to focus on my life in the real world. BUT, I am implementing all that I read about here slowly but surely, and I am not abandoning this at all... I will also contribute as much as I can, but it won't be for the next few months, that's all. I hope that's ok - as I titled my intro, I am SO glad to have found you!

There is no requirement that you write here. It is far more important to give that time to your family and your horses. :D
