We just became grandparents for the first time about 2 hours ago. She's lovely, and loud.

Her name is Ayla.

She will be very tall as so many, most of us on both sides of her family are, and her mother and father.

Hope your day is going as nicely as mine, ours.

Thank you all for you good wishes. She's quite beautiful. Kate, a grandmother for the first time, is now with g'child, mother, and father doing an overnight support. Seems all are a bit tired.

Frankly I think she just wants to sit and hold Ayla and beam a great deal. I'll be seeing Ayla on Wednesday, I think, after my dental appointment in town. I won't need novacaine, I'm sure.

Bonnie and Altea were quite put out this evening as I was an hour late with their dinner. The looks I got, you wouldn't believe. I wonder if they know something is up. I'll discuss it with them in the morning. g'nite all.

Wow, a small, BIG aside! Wonderful news Donald. Congratulations. :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleft:
Love the name! I was a huge devotee of Jean M Auel's novels when I was a kid. Ayla of course was the amazing woman who first tamed and rode a horse. :D

Congratulations from us as well. Oh, that is so fantastic, a grandchild! :)

You will have such a great time watching her play with Bonnie and Altea, I am sure. :f:

Oh, congratulations! :f: :f: :f:
I was en-uncle-ed twice this year already and it feels nice, but becoming Grandfather must feel even a lot better! :l:

Congratulations from me also, hope you'll have a wonderful day today with grandchild in lap (there's no better way to get out of doing chores I hear). :) :f: :f: :applause: :applause:

Thank you all. It's breathtaking. Tomorrow I will see her for the first time. She's about 50 miles from here so it will be a trip to town for me. But no, Birgit, I will have to rush my chores in the morning, leaving some that I can, and then when I get home in the evening finish up. I am happy anyway, and will likely find my chores much lighter to do.

All smiles here,

Have you had chance to hold Ayla now?
So pleased all went well. Keep Ayla from reading the Jean M Auel for a few years, the love scenes are too steamy for a baby. xx

CONGRATULATIONS

Yeah, the first book is probably safe enough for a baby. :funny:

Agreed on the books ...

Yes, got to visit this morning. Mom and Pop looking pretty tired. Kate will be back to support them this afternoon and overnight. How's Ayla?

Well, more gorgeous in person, that's how.

Kind of bored with me though. Barely opened her eyes, yawned and went back to sleep. Bought back the births and raising of my two.

Looking forward to seeing her here at our place. Over the river and through the woods to grandmother's house we go. I shall have to teach her that song.
