After over a month of very hard work, I want to announce that I have finally completed (well, almost - enough to launch) Paul's website.

It is graphics intense (to say the least). He wanted LOADS of photos. So I apologize to all of you that are on dialup connections. Over time I hope to learn how to optimize the site a bit better, but it may remain nearly impossible for dialup users. Over the next 4 weeks I will also construct the gallery section which I hope will be a very pleasant slide show arrangement.

Scattered throughout the site are little quotes from Paul...plucked from various articles. My favorite is:

"If I tied you, restrained you, then told you I meant you no harm, would you believe me?"

Anyway...here it is:

OOOOOHHHHH.... That is amazing. I don't know what it is about that site, but when I first looked at it my stomach and throat got all tight and I almost stopped breathing... it was just so amazing...

THANK YOU for posting this, Karen!

Oh Thank you, both of you!

I want Paul to get very busy and his old website was just not doing him any justice at all. It was a lot of work and I've decided that I don't think I would want to do website for a living! Very long days trying to meet a deadline that I blew past several times.

I still need to finish the photo and video galleries and I hope to add more links to articles as they are available. A few will be in Horse Of Kings, so I have to wait until they are available on that website.

About his clinics...wow. I can take an awful lot of them! I learn so much.

I still haven't done an update on the last clinic a couple weeks ago. It was great. At one point he had everyone trying out riding with only a neck rope and gave everyone a wonderful taste of what it means to be creative, imaginative and experimental in horse training.I will try to find the time to do that report!

Would love to hear your report, Karen,

that sure got my ears perked up! :-)

And you're right -- Paul's old site didn't do him justice.

It was serviceable, but this is brilliant!

:-)

Awesome website!!! really one of the best I have ever seen!!! 8)

Say... did you teach Paul... 'certain' things... or how did that go precisely?

I love the fact that he comes from a fitness background like I! I know that this is sooo helpful :)

But what I never can get my head around... if you are a rider and trainer like that... why the bits?
Just a retorical question, does not need answering

Thank you Josepha!

Paul will say he is influenced by every student he has, but I can say for sure that everything he is doing now, he was doing before I met him. So it couldn't be me!

I cannot speak for Paul on the use of bits. He doesn't tell me I SHOULD use one, and I'm not about to tell him he SHOULDN'T use one.  I just like the fact that with him it's completely optional - for himself and for his students.

I am sure you influence him 8)
you influence me  8)

I meant it as a compliment... I know why most people use bits... But with Paul, it clearly is not clear to me

God, you are such an artist! wow! what a website!
Wish I would meet paul and you once...

I forgot to say THANK YOU to Leigh!

And to Inge and BladeRunner too...thank you so much for the compliments!

I want to add that last night, The Horse Of Kings Online Magazine sent me a copy of an interview they did with Paul. It explains more about Paul's philosophy. I haven't actually added it to the website yet, but it's on the server and available to listen to it. The format is MP3.

It starts a little slow, but you have to tell me (if you listen to it) what topic you think he gets the most excited about. It is a lovely interview.

Wow, what a wonderful website! :D

Paul sure must be very happy to have you around as a student! 8)
As I was watching it on a slower internet connection, it took about a minute to load all the pictures too - isn't it possible to just save them in a lighter file so that they are only 50-100 kb with the same clarity? Then it might be faster and easier to reach.

About the design: it's just perfect, very professional and inspiring. You immediately want to order his books and hope that they have a similar lay-out!

What did Paul say when you presented him this?

Can you explain what you mean by "lighter file"?

I do want to optimize the site for faster viewing, and I have to learn how to do that!

Thank you about the design! He likes it of course! He's seen each page as it was created, so that he had a chance to have some input on the photos used and the content of each page.

Paul doesn't have any books out...he's hoping to do some dvds because he feels the visual format will make it easier to understand some of the actions. He hopes to start doing that in the coming year!

Wait...I think I can do this easily (optimization) by saving all the images as .gif files?
