I've never made such a non-horsey video in my life, but there it is.
Yesterday I had a standard appointment in the Carolus hospital, but coincidentally it was the last day ever that the hospital was open. The past weeks all departments and wards have been moved to a new location, except the one where I needed to be, which was one of the last that was still there.
Walking towards it I was going through completely silent hallways with chairs stacked in corners, boxes on the floors and goodbye-graffiti on the walls of wards that were gone. I didn't see a living thing (okay, a few dying plants). It was so moving that a building that played such a big part in so many lives, a place where people were born, died, were sick and got better, is now simply abandoned and will be completely gone in a few weeks time.
It was always there and took care for us patients, and now we've stopped taking care of him/her. So that's what it felt like, walking there and that's why I suddenly wanted to record it as it was, empty but still there. I had my camera with me as I wanted to film the pony's and so I filmed a hospital instead.
It's just a very personal memory, I simply wanted to record the hospital now it's still there and also how moving it was to walk through it for the last time:
