The Art of Natural Dressage

I don't know if this is the good place, but for me it feels like a art.

Here the first pictures of my leather work, it was for school so maybe no comment about what I made it is just to learn how to make it.

The second exercise who I does finish (all the rest is still work on )

We had to make a martingale, I didn't connect the pieces, so was it more clear for pictures.

Very nice! Thanks for sharing this. I´m very interested in all leather work, as I strive to learn it myself.
What kind of school is that where you´re learning this? And do you have all the necessary tools yourself, or do you use them at school? I really like to use a stitching pony, but it´s quite expensive and big .

I'm going to evening school. But I'm living in Belgium

We must buy all us material, maybe I also made pictures of them.
But only for doing the handwork, no machines.

I look on internet and what I find about a stitching pony is the type where you have to close and open every time with a clamp when you want to move the leather.
Us teacher made a type for between you legs... (It isn't even difficult to made it you own if you have the good material, by interese can I made a plan)
So you have to give pressure with you leg who is up and it is easy to move the leather...



He made the underside longer so that you don't push the leather down.



I hold a cork under, we used by hard leather. So that the leather stay sure in good position.


II even didn't yet the finish work at the sides of the martingale

I was thinking about such a clamp instead of a real stitching pony. Looks nice. Also the idea with the cork is wonderful . My problem is always to get the awl through the leather straight and not at an angle. So the stitches look nice on the front, but the back side is criss-cross.

About the stitching... I have the same 'front and back problem' at one point I got the hang of it and really got straight stitched so I guess it's a matter of practice? oh... I want to make somethings now... but I have leather bot suitable for horsetack... so it'll be an (empty haha ) wallet or something (some bookcover maybe?)

Very nice! Nice work and pretty colours! I´m very envious I have to start leather working again - if I only had more time. Right now we´re moving, so no chance for any spare time . But maybe I can find some room in our new flat to put up some working place .

The rounded part was most difficult, the lining wasn't so difficult.
I did even something wrong in the rounded part...
But I hope my teacher will find it good...

Now I'm working on a halter with a rounded front and nose belt...
The front belt looks all good but the nose belt...

A small update.
I finished my school.
This year we learned a lot about saddles.
For the exam we had to open and fill up the saddle good and close it again.
I didn't made pictures of that but maybe later.

For the C-proef (for all the 3 years together) I had to make a halter and price calculation...

I will post pictures

I will try to make more pictures of my work so I can give more information and updates.

Now I still have 4 small projects...

I did disassembled a saddle and will make a new sitting for it and make it (hopefully like new).

There are a few people who asked me for a belt…

I will stil finish the drive halter

And I still have to make the blocs on the jumping saddle of my man his boss…
(They did steal my bag, where my leather and the rest was in I needed)
