I could now :)

and I really liked it

I'm working on spanish walk with Ruphina as well now (we can do it with only the left foot now so it is more of a spanish skip right now ;) ) so maybe this is an idea for us as well...

That is why I showed the video! Lot's of horses find it so difficult somehow.
O just thought he could not do it. He thought that he would fall or something if he spanish walked instead of simply stood and jambette-ed like a begging dog ha ha !
But the ball helps him to focus and streamline the movement. And I now finally have an O who can wait for me to cue and keep distance to actually see what I am asking :) yippie! In stead of running into me, pawing me and everything like crazy! ha ha !

This is such a different Owen than the one I met last time, so calm and polite! :) :thumleft:
Veeery nice, and I love the idea of using a ball to train the Spanish walk - so nice when he lifts two legs in a row! :)

And Wow, eighteen, you really wouldn't say if you see the video, congratulations!
Now where did I leave that cake... 8)

Thank you Karen and Visebre :)

As always, it was Owen's idea. I saw him doing jambette against the ball and then walking after it and I thought: hey! :ieks: Wait a minute! ha ha ! Duh, why couldn't I think of that?
Because we are working on this he is getting so loose and balanced! it is such a great Gymnasium exercise.

@Miriam, thank you! I can't tell you what a relieve it is to finally feel safe enough around him. I know he would not want to hurt me in a million years. But he always got so excited and had no control over himself. I have been rewarding for a year for just standing, waiting and taking distance! Now finally he has self control and patience.
And one of his own findings is turning away from me so he can retain himself again. Because he is so extremely intelligent and used to bossing everybody around, he is the most difficult horse for me to work with somehow. But I enjoy it the most  He seems always so interested in what I am thinking or feeling. I never experienced that with any one else before.

Also Romy showed us how we got each other worked up. It is crazy and I do not have that problem with any other horse. With other horses I simply adjust the energy level to what is needed. But with O somehow, we got each other so worked up. Now, if I feel his energy levels rise, I do not go a long with it but meditate on slow breathing. It helps so much. Sometimes he even starts breathing loud and long too ha ha !

Make it a carrot cake for O, he likes carrots the most :)

Thank you Karen :) slowly we are getting somewhere.

The hardest part was for O not to turn towards me or walk away :)
That is where Monsieur De Pluvinel used the pilars for of course... 8) So this way takes a wee bit longer, say like 6 months ha ha !

This is like similar situations at the stable, when I have told the kids that sometimes you have to reward the horse for NOT doing the wrong thing before you get the chance to reward them for doing the right thing! :applause:
