I'm really liking these small videos Josepha! :applause:

I especially like the flexions video. Owen keeps his head SO level!

I'm stunned at how energetically and athletically Owen is moving now! He looks like the years are falling away from him! :applause:

Oh all those small video's really inspire me to work some more specific basic work again with Ruphina thank you

Josepha, as a training tool, the little videos are perfect. One concept at a time. I like that format very much. :yes:

And that saddle... my! :love:

Do not lunge then now. Do not ride circles but rectangular voltes.

Work in yielding along the fence. (Head to the fence, outside leg taking quarters in). When that works, work on shoulder in. After that, when in shoulder in put your leg back and change to travers (Haunches in). Contstantly keep changing lead.
Only go to trot from shoulder in, only go to canter from travers or renvers.

6 months at least... but you will see improvement within months.
Now... I should see how you use your reins and seat to help any further.

Also, the works of Anja Beran, Philip Karl and Bent Branderup might shed some light

I was thinking the same thing Sue...and Josepha, it's delightful to see you riding...that he feels well enough to do all this is a joy in itself! I'm so happy for you!

Me too, but it makes me so happy that you see it too, and if all keeps going well, this is only the very very beginning! We shall kick some ass off people saying O-master is old at 18!

I completely understand, it looks very well on Owen, and the riding must be wonderful! But even looking at one is great, one day... I'll have my own (horse and) saddle like that

I've never ridden a rectangular volte (by the way what is the difference between a volte and a circle in general training terms?), do I just make a turn at each corner? He likes travers alot right now, but remains rigid (no bend) while doing it, is there anything I can do to suggest bend, or does he not need it? Funny that you mention canter from travers... years ago in our training we had a "problem" where Diego constantly wanted to point his haunches inward while cantering or striking off for the canter. What we do really varies from day to day... most of the time right now I do not use contact on the bridle at all because I want him to balance properly. I'm not familiar with Anja or Phillip's work but I know and love to watch Bent Branderup videos. Does he have any DVD or book in English? I seem to remember that was a problem previously when I found his works.
