Oh Romy, your videos are truly amazing, you have such wonderful relationships with your horses. The love and fun between you is so apparent, you all shine :sunny:

Thank you very much, Brenda, Miriam, Inge, Karen, Madeleine, Bianca, Annie and San! :)

At the moment Titum is working on the quality of his rears. He even includes some forwards steps that will maybe become a laufcourbette later: duration in rearing, laufcourbette.

I would love to hear your suggestions and ideas how to improve his rears or how to continue.

WOW!

Okay, need a few more of those.

:ieks: :ieks:

That's amazing! He has come so incredibly far in the rearing in such a short time! It seems that I was just reading about you beginning the rears, and now he looks like such a confident balanced wonder horse. :)

I guess the only thing I could say is, in both videos he began his rears in almost a semi-back crunch position (although it may just have been those two times on the videos). It looks as if that's what caused him to lose his balance and come down the one time. Have you tried asking him from a GOTM position, or backing-GOTM-rearing transitions to keep his back round?

Again, so amazing! And the laufcourbette...

How about a few more?

:ieks: :ieks:

Thank you very much, Hannah, Karen, Inge and Glen! :)

@Hannah: yes, we also practise rearing from the GOTM position with mixed results (small forwards hops from a full GOTM and more levade-like rears from a half GOTM), but for the high rears where Titum really needs his balance, I prefer to let him choose the starting position by himself.

This morning we finally got it on video: Pia sitting.

the rearing is amazing, and really high too.

My horse rears not very high and not long. How exactly does it work, you use your hands to show when he can come down or is it in the moment of the click/reward...?

Thanks, Tanja! :)

He can come down whenever he wants or can´t hold it any longer. I reward, among other things, for duration, which means more oat and a more enthusiastic Romy for longer rears, so he is motivated to hold it of course. ;) But I have no sign for him to come down and we try to increase the time of staying up there more and more. Oh, and for things like this (where I don´t need exact timing and where there is no dichotomy of right/not right) I don´t use a click, only a lot of praise while he is standing like that.

Well, at the moment we are more in a levade mood (I have always liked the levade more, but Titum switches between only wanting pesade and only wanting levade ) and he does some very nice low rears with almost as much duration as in the high rears sometimes. I hope to get it on video soon.

Writing that, I notice that his levade-like rears are always much better when we do NOT practise them but when I am watering their hay. Maybe I don´t interfer with his movement then? Maybe he is more willing to put a lot of effort into them so that he will get my attention? I will have to observe that more closely!

Oh, Romy, Romy, Romy!

Those rears! :ieks: (me too!) Wow! :applause: :applause:

And laufcorbette! :ieks: (me too!) Wow! :applause: :applause:

It looks like you two have invisible wires between you as you lift your arms up and he goes up -- so cool.

I'm curious -- how are you asking for the steps in his laufcorbette?

And I'M IN LOVE WITH PIA!!!!
:cheer: (had to use that smiley because it just appeared!)
:inlove:

She is unbelievably cute -- I think I'd have a hard time keeping focused with her because I'd be rolling around on the ground giggling...

...oh, now I want a pony!!!!!!!!

Hugs,
Leigh
