I wasn't sure where to put this question, but here seems the best fit... :)

A friend sent me a link to this:

SoloShot Automatic Cameraman System with Tripod & Utility Bag
by SoloShot

Tracks at distances up to 2000 feet (half a kilometer).
The maximum pan speed is over 40 degrees per second.
The fastest object tested so far was a race car going 143 mph.
Batteries last 5+ hours.
A super bright tracking LED lets you know SOLOSHOT is pointing at you.

5 new from $475.99

(here: http://www.amazon.com/SoloShot-Automati ... B009NIX3ZY)

This just seems too good to be true! Imagine how great our videos could be!!!

Does anyone have any experience with this type of product????
Thanks so much for any input, I am most definitely going to get one of these - some day :)
I am going to do some research for sure first...

Sounds like a great innovation! :thumleft:
It's just a little expensive - especially in Europe. It's €580,- here, which is about $770,-! I'd really like to know, why...

well that doesn't seem fair at all! Maybe it would be cheaper to buy one from here and have it shipped there? This is the site I ordered from (yes, I thought about it and how many times have I said to myself: "I would pay a lot of money to have this on video"... :) )

It's still a lot, though.... well, I will keep you posted when it gets here :)

Well, I just love the self-tracking tripod!

It looks like it's built to last and relatively easy to use. I am still figuring it out, but it's not that hard. It does a really nice job!

It has only one major problem - you have to TURN THE CAMERA ON TO RECORD!!! :funny:
I thought I was getting good at using it, setting it up for the third time - and had a really nice ride - only to get back to a turned-off camera :blonde: :D

Anyway, so far I really recommend it - I know I would easily pay that much for a clinic with myself :)

Sounds awesome!
And really handy if you don't have any friends like me. ;) But it's true that most of the time I train on my own and in the past I tied camera's to the fence posts, but somehow that never really worked out - they were pointed too high or too low and I got a bit tired of working in the wrong corners all the time and ending up with a nice video of dust blowing over the paddock for 30 minutes - and not much more. 8)

Does it also zoom in when you ride away from it?

Hi Miriam, it does not zoom at all, basically you adjust your camera zoom and attach it to the tripod. All the tripod does is spin the platform to which the camera is attached - to follow the tracking armband. Here's a riding video clip - it does a better job than many humans :D

That looks wonderful!
Hmm, come to think of it, my camera just died....  :D

Well, let's find that pot with gold first!

so sorry, Karen! ;)

you know I thought that if I was running a boarding facility, I would buy one of these and rent it out - maybe it's worth an ask where you board?

Smart thinking!
I'm eyeing one on the internet right now as well. Oooh, tempting...
However, I noticed that it doesn't actually come with a camera, so you have to buy both camera and the rotation system, which adds another couple of hundreds of euro's/dollars...

oh I know, I really didn't have the funds either, but then I thought about it and I know that if there was a clinician coming to my area whose work I was interested in, I would find the money (credit ;) )....

And I get so much helpful information out of the videos - not to mention that this way, using the SoloShot, you guys can see what's going on - much more clearly! :)
