Last summer there was a "day of dressage at liberty" for the second time in Switzerland. I found three videos from the competition and the show program:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3VR1V3EKe4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGSYVmMw1o0
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3XUWSPUCx8o
The setting is very interesting. I can imagine it to be either lovely, because of it´s almost Biedermeier kind of intimacy. On the other hand it could also be terrifying, standing in that immediate focal point of all the attention surrounding you. Certainly interesting to see how the horses would react to that...

Interesting to see the different reactions of the horses.
The first movie i did not have reach the end, i think it was not that interesting for me. I missed something there, dont know exactly what.

The second one was nice..very nice...i saw a relaxed horse and a good communication. I think the horse was fine a that moment.

The third movie hmmmm...two completly different horses. The black one was fine, no stress but was very well trained. He did his job because he had learned it that way. Not that he was feeling bad or stressed or what ever. But you could see that the human was sometimes a bit late in her cues. But the horse knows what the next exercise was and did it any how.
It was a bit difficult to see all his signals because he had lots of hair ;-)
The white horse was full of stress, maybe the first show?? But you could see (for example)the part of the body between the front and hind legs was very stiff, and she was busy with the people behind the showring and not with the human in it.
Also the behavior to the black horse was someting i sould not alowed that. I had trained this at home to correct this behavior and that it is not accepted by me. So you dont have such behavior during a show.
I had the feeling that the white horse let of steam to the black horse and thats why the white one did what he did.

Thank you for the movies...when i have more time i will see them again...to learn more from it.
I am always very happy when people make those movies you can learn so much from it.

Very interesting that you say that, because I felt exactly the same. Something missing, but I cannot name it. I saw it a second time and liked it a bit better. Maybe we can figure out, what caused our feeling... I will watch it again.

I also liked the second one best. Nice vibes between the two. She is Diana Prokin and has quite a lot videos of her doing liberty with her Bonito.

i tryed again...see a bit longer but still not convinced that it was better then i saw it the first time.
for example at 2.05 the horses head is turned outside away from the man in the middle.
Yes he is doing what he is asked for, but.....
And later on the lay down part 6.59 till 7.05 the first part of it, the horse is trying the get up, but he may not from the man so he lay down again. This give me again not a good feeling....again.

The horse does do what he is asked for but..you know...i miss something....
Maybe it is because the man ask for an exercise and still keep asking even the horse does what he asked for.
Still keep continue pushing with his whip.
Not that he is hit the horse, but the power behind it.

I think you can do it when you are training things the first time, to prepare a show or what ever, so you are clear with your cues for the horse. but when he understand it you can give the cues less and less.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Maj-grdv3BY Romy had place this video in a other topic.
Here you can see how you can minimize your cues.

Sometimes he give less cues but most of the time it is too much...no close communication...maybe that is what i miss here.???
