Shoki is my beloved 20 year old Arabian. He was bequeathed to me by a dear friend who died of cancer in 2001. She had rescued him from an abusive situation a couple of years earlier. Shoki is an extremely sensitive horse, very unconfident, very claustrophobic, and not much interested (generally) in having relationships with humans. I did PNH with him for years, then finally found clicker training. Clicker training has changed his life! Here are a few videos of my progressive work with him:
Two videos of me riding Shoki bareback and bridleless (prior to clicker training): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCCx_7KR-_I and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqTfgReO6hU
A video showing some of my very early clicker work with Shoki. I was not very good yet, but you can see him trying to learn to think through my requests rather than simply reacting to them (his old pattern): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3sr_KEcDAg
Teaching Shoki to learn to trot (increase energy) and stay relaxed by lowering his head. This was a HUGE breakthrough for him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1I2obWng4wU
Transferring the head-down work to under saddle: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljbdborvnIA
Liberty work/play with Shoki: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9lVSvwDX4c
