I love it. :funny: Very good ideas there for "things to do with my horse" when I feel uninspired.

I just saw this video and found it so inspiring: Going through water with two horses. So nice how he got the second horse interested, and managed to help him dare to go through the water as well. :)

My only problem when watching this was that I wanted to give them rewards all the time, but this was not possible through my computer screen. :funny:

He is so crazy. 8) Those tarp tunnels are absolutely crazy! :ieks:
I heard that at our new barn there's a woman who just started with horse agility and who's interested in building a course :applause:. I think she just found herself new friends :D

Love the tarp tunnels and the water obstacles! I love how he allows the horse to get brave enough on his own to go through. No pressure at all. WOW. Nice. :applause:

That's so insane!! :applause:
That tunnel scares even me! :green:
I love watching Horse Agility videos. The way the horses are positively glued to their humans is really inspiring. And it's so nice to see how much it helps a horse if a human does it first. I do that a lot with Speedy when I've made a new (small) jump, and what works even better is first give an example by jumping over it myself and then not allowing him to join me but instead tell him that he should go around while I have all the fun of jumping over the cavaletto. 8)

By the way, only last week I bought the Horse Agility Handbook:

You can read the first pages over here: http://www.amazon.com/The-Horse-Agility ... 1570764883

Haven't read it yet, but I liked how versatile it was and how it tackled all kinds of problems during training. I had hoped that there would be more @liberty stuff (it's almost all online) and the pictures are quite dark but it looks very complete.

I couldn't resist and leafed through the first chapters, but she doesn't work with foodrewards, nor with whips. I'm curious at what she uses/does instead to motivate her horses, so I can't wait to read it either.

I had her out to see Jimi, the little miniature Shetland I had on loan last year... She uses herself and her energy to inspire the horse's curiosity, plus when getting used to objects she just lets them use their own motivation, or uses approach and retreat etc. She seems to have a mixture of her own fantastic way with horses, but also a little bit of the typical 'natural horsemanship' way of doing things too... She certainly is fantastic at understanding equine behaviour though. She does what many of us are familiar with I should think - if you listen to a horse and respond appropriately, you will often get their interest because finally they can have a proper conversation with a human!

It was great getting her out to see Jimi, because other people who were at the barn I was at at the time watched this too, and all of them were so obsessed about their 'carrot sticks', that I secretly hoped it would give them other ideas by watching a person who doesn't use whips ever use whips.
