Hello Everyone:

I wish I could upload both videos but I will have to do it separately (I'm not at all a computer wiz) ;)

Here's another video of Corado laying down when asked. He has only been doing this for the last week. It took me about a year (wow!!!)

Both videos are so wonderful! The lying down video is so nice! Your patience shows and Corado is so relaxed. Just lovely!

His expressiveness with the ball is fantastic! Very nice!!!!

Thanks Karen. I am so excited. Finally, we understand each other. I think things will go alot faster now because his attention is on me now. Maybe not all the time, but when it is, I think he will know that I'm trying to teach him something.

Anyways I'm so happy, imagine,,, 4 years ago, I didn't want Corado to move a muscle when he was beside me because I was too scared. Today, it's all about having fun and of course it's my responsibility to stay safe.

P.S. can we say laying down or is it just "lying down" :study:

English can be so confusing....

We all knew exactly that it was Corado showing you absolute trust and faith though...so spelling doesn't matter one little bit! :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause:

Oh, Jocelyn. It is so great to see your "dangerous and terrifying" horse being so relaxed and trusting.

Thanks Glenn. I guess he does look pretty "safe" on these videos. But you should have seen him last night when the foxes were "crying out" in the woods right beside their shelter. PANIC VILLE, both of them, while I was cleaning out. their shelter They were poohing and huffing and puffing. Even this morning, Corado didn't want to go to the door. I'm sure when Magik decides to go out Corado will follow, but for now, he's staying inside.

Hi,
I just want to jump in here and say that I really envy the laying down! It is so beautiful and calm, he really trusts you! WOW!

thanks Ingela (I love your name  ). Yes, I guess he now realizes that I can be trusted. Everyday, I ask him to lay down beside me. Outside he'll do it but not in the shelter. Oh well, he's allowed to refuse.
But the weird thing is that it happened out of the blue. I never dreamt he would do it when I asked. And now, everyday he does it (outside).
So I am so happy.

The playing with the ball video really made me smile!
Aren't we all silly creatures  , running around with a ball trying to invite our horses to follow
It is so funny, especially when you notice the same amount of cheering and excitement of the lady.
I could just imagine myself in exactly the same position

The video on the laying down is beautiful!
I can go to my horses and sit on their back when they lay down, but so far I have not yet managed to make them do it on demand.
Nice piece of work! :applause:

Reading from the posts afterwards that you had a dangerous horse before, it makes it all even more impressive! :thumleft:

Thanks Ama for your encouragement.

I wouldn't say he was "dangerous" but with the experience I have (had) around horses, Corado, being spooky, was not the most reliable. He is still spooky but I'm sure he's trying real hard to stay calm when put to the test ;)

Oh, Jocelyne, this is SOOOOO lovely! So nice to see your way of interacting with your horses, how you ask them to do things (and I mean really ask), how you are happy about what they offer and reward them wholeheartedly.

It´s so rare to see your kind of interaction from people who started in a riding school or anywhere in the traditional horseworld. Many of them turn to more friendly forms of horse handling later, but it seems to be so hard to get over the expectations and be just happy about the horse´s offers. For non horse people this often seems to be much easier... like they can still act normally around a horse instead of immediately switching into 'I want to make him do things' mode. :funny: Maybe you are lucky that you started late... or you are simply just a natural! :f:

Very inspiring and beautiful video! :)

Thanks Romy, I really feel like I do have a relationship with both of them (here's another video but with Corado). It's funny but sometimes I do get the urge to "lose it" and I haven't been taught that. I guess it's patience and I hear sometimes parents have the urge to "lose it" with their kids (I have none so I can't say). I guess I need them as friends not as riding partners, that may help.

Here's another one with Corado. He offers his tongue all the time now (he used to offer his legs up all the time but now he stopped, replaced with his tongue - rather have a tongue out than a leg up ;)
