I can also update on Lily's salivation status. She has completely stopped since we had the dentist do her teeth this summer
I also thought about his teeth since he's always playing with his tongue and he always seems to have something stuck in the back of his mouth. The owner told me he had his teeth done just before arriving at my place but I'm not certain anything was done.

anyways, I'll have that checked out again. But he hasn't salivated since (first day with my farrier).

Mucki displayed the same behaviour and still does to some degree - he sticks his tongue out through his bars and lick around like he tries to reach something at the back of his mouth. At first I thought about food getting stuck, especially since we use whole oat grain as treats and they indeed get stuck between teeth or in the cheeks. But the dentist said, he got his last canine tooth (or is it wolf teeth?) coming on his right side and this is exactly where he licks.
Since Dreamer is probably too old to have canine teeth still coming, I would rather suspect a frontal hook on the premolars or something. When people say the teeth had been checked, this could also just mean that a vet has checked them, which again does mean only little I'm afraid. There's rarely a vet I heard of that has a lot of experience about teeth...

I agree totally. Here in Québec, the "teeth experts" are the vets and like you said, they really don't know much except what they learnt in school.
