Hi All
This topic was startet in another section, but I took it down a different path, because I think that this also depends upon the human, the second half of the equation.
And in my opinion a third factor as well, lets call it the x-factor.
Klaus Hempfling has defined 26 different kinds of horse personality, and this should make it rather easy for the human to find a near match to her personality.
However..... this rarely happens! Why ?
Klaus has discovered, as have I, that horses have an astounding ability to aid humans in the fine art of self-realization.! ,"To have a succesfull partnership with horse, you have to truly be yourself, horses will have it no other way!"
"Putting on a brave face if you are really terribly sad, will not allow you to connect with the horse, as she wil oftentimes dismiss your approach.
Being honest about your feelings and telling the horse that you have a really bad day, on the other hand ,gives her the opportunity to be right there with you ,as you are then truly present, in the now."
Sometimes It can also give the horse a way to release her own sadness, through you. (horses with issues like abuse or abandonment)
"If you cry while embrasing your horse,she will chew and sigh, lending your tears for a while, since horses can not cry like we do.
"
Linda Kohanov describes this very well, in her book "Way of the horse"( she has a lot of experience healing people by exposing them to therapi-horses.)
My preference in horse personality is a happy go lucky sort, I love to kick up my heels, and share the joyous mood a horse like that has to offer, but I often end up with a horse who is the complete opposite of that type...
This is where the X-factor comes into play...I actually feel that I have not so much chosen the horses I have bought, as they have chosen me !!
(As my mother says..they can see a fool approaching from far away..
)
But seriousley, did you choose a horse with your mind or with your heart, did you get what you wanted or perhaps rather what you needed to develop further or learn something important. or did the horse chose you instead ?
