Bianca I couldn't agree with you more about worrying!!! And it sounds like you have a very special bond with your mare. Having feelings and dreams about something bad to come to me is not something to ignore but pay close attention to.
I have had something very similar happen with Unie when she was only about 10 months old. I kept getting a feeling about her legs getting stuck in the ladder to the hayloft and it went on for a month. Than one night I had a nightmare she was stuck and could not get free, it was horrible! Everyone told me I was worrying too much, which is something I am very good at. Have even made it into a fine art.
A few days later after I had fed my guys something told me to go back to the barn right away. So I turned around and headed out the door again. As soon as I opened the door I heard a loud BANG BANG! Than saw Taliesin come running out of the barn. I ran inside to find my poor little Unie thrashing on the ground with her hindleg up the hock stuck under the stall door!!!!
I started talking to her to relax which she did right away and began lifting the door which was cemented into the wall. Somehow I got it high enough that she pulled her leg out. I had the vet come out to be sure all was ok and he told me I was the luckest person she came out with just some very small scrapes and some soreness.
I don't know what would have happened if I had not gone back out there or if anything had happened to my Unie. That is one of the big reasons I started listening to myself more and trusting my gut.
Great subject!
Take care,
Eileen Darland
